Why You Should Use Peloton Sweat Guard?

I’ve been using the peloton sweat guard for a couple of months now because I couldn’t find any other solution to help me save time when cleaning my bike. In this article, I will share with you my thought on using peloton sweat protection.

As a whole, the peloton sweat guard is a bike towel cover made of high-quality synthetic material that helps to absorb the sweat while riding the bike and have a positive effect in reducing corrosion. Its shape fits the bike frame, which is easy to put on and take it off.

Peloton Sweat Protection Guard

Peloton does have a plastic sweat cover that protects the flywheel and magnets from dust, dirt, and sweat.

However, if the sweat is not cleaned after each ride, over time when the sweat begins to accumulate it can damage some of the metal and plastic components.

The peloton does make you sweat because of the thermoregulation process, and it depends on the intensity and duration of your workouts.

Sweating can be bad for your Peloton bike because human sweat is composed of electrolytes like chloride, calcium, and sodium, which can be corrosive to the bike, especially chloride. Sweat also contains trace amounts of lactic acid and urea.

Dry chloride is not corrosive to most metals, however, the combination of chloride and moisture from sweat has corrosive effects on aluminum and metals.

Chloride ions are able to penetrate and damage even stainless steel.

Of course, one single workout is not gonna damage the bike or make it rustic. However, not cleaning your bike thoroughly over time can ruin your peloton because sweat can penetrate through the handlebar coating and start to corrode the metal components.

It can also corrode other parts like the frame, pedals, and screws.

Why do I sweat so much on a Peloton Bike?

Sweating is a natural body’s reaction to heat in order to regulate homeostatic temperature. Vigorous exercise and exposure to hot environments is the main reason why we sweat.

People sweat a lot on the peloton bike because exercise increases core body temperature.

Excessive sweating can be due to gender, body weight, hot environment, exercise intensity, or the type of clothing you wear that increases metabolic heat production.

I always sweat on the bike because I typically choose classes that are either short and intense like HIIT, or they are longer like power zone endurance rides.

What Is Peloton Sweat Guard?

In short, the peloton sweat guard allows you to cover the bike frame and protects it from dirt, dust, and sweat particles, which are destructive to the bike over time. It also helps to maintain the bike in good condition for years to come.

The sweat guard works by absorbing the dripping sweat from the bike and protecting it from corrosion, dust, and dirt.

It’s made of high-quality multiple layers fabrics that can be washed together with other towels and clothes.

The peloton sweat guard is not necessary.

You can still maintain the cleanliness of the bike using sweat towels or by using sanitation wipes. However, people who sweat a lot and don’t have always time to wash their bikes can benefit from using an extra sweat guard.

The prices for peloton sweat guards are between $20 to $50, depending on the material and durability. Alternatively, to save money you can place a couple of sweat towels around the bike frame.

I love to challenge myself with climb rides and power zone endurance rides but at the same time, I sweat a lot. That’s why I got my peloton sweat guard to make sure I keep my pricey bike functional as long as possible.
